Terrorism

Terrorism can be defined as criminal act that influences an audience beyond the immediate victim. The strategy of terrorists is to commit acts of violence that draws attention of the local populace, the government, and the world to their cause. It can also be define as giving terror to the people.

These are some examples of Acts of Terrorism and their effects. One of them is bombing; it is the most common type of terrorist attack in the world. One effect of this is that many of the government properties are being bombed. Another example is kidnapping and hostage taking; this kind of crime is common here in our country by the Abu-Sayyaf and the MILF. Because of this crime tourists coming to our country became less. If there are no tourists there are no investments. Lastly, is the merciless killing that is usually done in different communities especially in Mindanao. One of its effects is that the people living in Mindanao became afraid of the terrorist. They became very aware of the terrorists. They learn how to defend them selves in able to survive.

In general, terrorism has occurred throughout history, but today the world is experiencing a global rebirth of attacks. Today, it no longer affects only small societies, such as isolated third world countries who fell victim to regular terrorist attacks, but the whole world is becoming more familiar with Arab and Muslim names. Many innocent people around the world are beaten, enslaved and killed by these terrorists. The terrorist violence that is on the rise today has informed citizen all over the world about different types of terrorism, the Nation’s have been doing what they can to eliminate terrorism. We need to eliminate terrorism so that we can have world peace. So that people can live freely without the fear of being beaten, enslaved or even killed by the terrorist. Also, the governments will be more focused on the problems in the society. If there is no terrorism our world will be more productive and happy.

In the given acts of terrorism here are some of the solutions the government has done. In bombing, the government put more securities in different public places to inspect the bags of the people. This tactic is good because they can detect if q person has a deadly weapon in their bag. This can prevent bombings in malls and public places. But in this kind of inspection sometimes there are people who are not inspected. Another solution in this problem is that the government became more focused on the places where the terrorists might attack. They put many soldiers and bomb sniffing dogs to different public places. In kidnapping and hostage takings, the government tries to communicate with the terrorists and try to know what they want in able to get the hostages from them. Another solution the government has done is they put many soldiers in isolated places where the terrorists are active in kidnapping and hostage takings. Last is merciless killing, actually this crime is usually in communities the government doesn’t do anything about this. They just keep it to themselves so that people may not be afraid.

For me, to defeat terrorism we must give them, the terrorist, hope, redirect them away from disenfranchisement, empower them, we must correct the unjust and illegal acts, and focus their hate towards successful methods of making changes. To do any of this we must know and understand what they have been through, and see why they view this as their only course of action. We must find a successful method for them to impact us, to influence us, to get changes, without terrorism.

you said: "In bombing, the government put more securities in different public places to inspect the bags of the people." -i dont think this is a good solutions, i don't believe it have done anything beneficial to us. display lang lahat yan para may mapasweldong guards. hipo dito-hipo doon. shame! anong magagwa nyan, bihira lang ung may scanner sa malls. ung iba masabing natignan lng ung bag.

"We must find a successful method for them to impact us, to influence us, to get changes, without terrorism." - WHAT are your methods by the way? it is not cited or posted in your article

I have to agree with Miguel.

Your article mainly focuses on the solutions in terrorism. Some of the preventive measures you indicate are only implemented after a great terrorist attack had occurred. It might not do us any benefit when a bombing is strategically planned.

to your proposal, for the bombing, we already doing of "checking bags" to all people. But sometimes, when the mall is not active anymore, the guards get bored and thinking that there will be no bomb in that place because there's not much people going on that place. And you also said that sniffing dogs and soldiers in many place. That could make us spend a lot of money then. There are malls and buildings that don't have enough money for more soldiers and sniffing dogs. But this is a good proposal though.

good work but i disagree on the last paragraph about:

>giving them hope
>redirecting them
>empowering them
>correcting their unjust and illegal acts

because as miguel says on his post, you could not change a man who does not want to be changed.

i agree with miguel. the solutions are good except for one. the securities that are assigned for this don't do their job well.it's better if they just have x-ray machines not only in airports but also in malls.

i agree with everything they said especially the one about the security guards at the mall who doesn't do their job very well.

I also agree with Miguel. I've observed the guards and all I've seen them do is open bags, look for a brief second and then let those people through.

This tactic is good because they can detect if q person has a deadly weapon in their bag.

Typographical error, but not my main reason for re-posting that statement. The tactic you were talking about was the guards inspecting the bags of people in public places. Some people still are able to fool the guards by hiding their weapons under other things inside their bags.

i didn't understand this part:
"For me, to defeat terrorism we must give them, the terrorist, hope, redirect them away from disenfranchisement, empower them, we must correct the unjust and illegal acts, and focus their hate towards successful methods of making changes."

Who are you talking here?
Did you mean giving the terrorist hope, redirect them and empower them???
Or you mean giving the people hope and etc.????

It's confusing. . .

For the solutions' part, I guess you should add there that respect is the only thing that would stop these so-called "terrorist attacks." People should learn how to be considerate of others' beliefs in principles in life.

I like the way your write it, examples of act of terrorism then its effects to its audiences. Then after that, more effects of terrorism to us people and to those who are inside terrorism. However, on your solutions to the acts of terrorism, we already used those methods. For me, the reason why those methods don't work because we only act seriously after a terrorist act.

Mico,

How do you propose to empower the terrorists/activists? Redirect what? This seems to be an unorthodox solution yet is worth looking into. Perhaps you can expound more on what you mean by this.
