Guns vs. Guns

Terrorism it is the unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons. It is also a form of unconventional warfare and psychological warfare.

Terrorist believe that they have no other options for their political, economic or religious complaint. As a result, terrorist kill and injure random civilians at random places and at random times so that they will catch the attention of the public.

The mistake with the logic of terrorism is that violence begets more violence. The oppressing group that is being terrorized will become even more oppressive and violent to the oppressed group and maybe even to other people and in return the terrorist will raise their efforts too. Even each denomination of Islam women and other subgroups of people in Muslim countries are being brutally oppressed and even killed by other Muslims.

To fight fire with fire will certainly not reduce the heat. In fact, more physical conflict can further increase the casualties of terror. That is what we must avoid, and that is what we must not do.

To soften the anger under the fog of war, a simple talk of terms and presentation of ideas can stop all these deaths. It is a rather risky move, but it may just yield the results we all wish for.
