The Terror of Terrorism

Terrorism is the systematic use of terror as a means of coercion (the opening stage of a well-planned campaign of politician), it is also considered the atmosphere of threat or violence. In our life today, we can’t really say that we are in complete safety because of the terrorist groups/acts that lurks around us. Because of terrorism we react to their terror and out of fear make our society less open. Terrorism is not only about physical damage, death and destruction. It is also about destroying something inside of the people – its entire psychological in nature.

One problem that the world face today is the group called Al-Qaeda. It is an international Sunni Islamic movement founded in 1988. Al-Qaeda has attacked civilian and military targets in various countries, and the most memorable attack they have done is the events during September 11 in 2001 in the Twin Towers in New York City. Al-Qaeda’s characteristic techniques include suicide attacks and simultaneous bombings of different targets. Al-Qaeda’s objectives include the end of foreign influence in Muslim countries and the creation of a new Islamic caliphate (political leadership of the Muslim community). Another beliefs is that Christian-Jewish alliance is conspiring to destroy Islam and that killing of the opposed groups and the civilians is Islamically justified in jihad.

These actions were followed by the US government launching a military and intelligence campaign against al-Qaeda called the “War on Terror”. US government and other helping agencies make a move to lessen the threats to people. They provide security to the people and other trainings that are necessary and they also ask the help of other countries to eliminate this group – Al-Qaeda, but even with the help of other country, terrorism continue to elevate and more innocent people are being involve in the attacks of the terrorist.

Terrorism also occurs on our own country, one example is the group of Abu Sayyaf. One attempt they had done is when they kidnapped 2 tourists in Dos Palmas, Palawan and they are asking for ransom for them to release to kidnapped tourist. Because of that act, many tourist spot places in our country are not being able to go because of the possibility that Abu Sayyaf will kidnap them.

President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo had done a lot of acts, ask help for other alliance country, have a military government to respond in the act of Abu Sayyaf and many more. Then after many months of battle between the terrorist, the government has rescued the two tourists.

My proposed solution in terrorism in international is that, since we all know that waging war would just be a waste of time, each opposing team wouldn’t gain benefit from it and innocent people would just be involve. I certainly agree on what also other people think that what’s best is to have an open communication between the opposing groups.
And for the national solution, government had already done a lot of things so that terrorism won’t spread, as far as I’m concern, we can’t entirely wipe out terrorism, but we can lessen it by assisting the foundation of the country – the people. People wouldn’t do bad stuffs if they have a job and receiving the right amount of wage, that’s why the government should also do their part in giving service to the people.

In for the local solution, like Jose Rizal said that the children are the key to progress/success, that’s why one solution I came up to lessen terrorism is that while young, schools must provide some film showing about the effects and problems caused by terrorism, in that way, the young minds will understand that going to the side of the terrorist will just make things more worst and many innocent people will be involve which may cause the people to be killed.

Actually, not all terrorist are jobless... Others are just too poor that the minimum wage isn't enough to their family. Also, others have jobs but a terrorist. They are terrorist because they want to have revenge or power.

And to your proposed solution is really a good solution, making communication to the opposing team. But sometimes it doesn't work that war is the only way.

And also, it is true to what you say to your local solution, that the children is the key to sucess.

I agree with your solutions. Terrorist will not do anything if there is no reason. So, the best thing to do is discuss with them what the problem is and have an agreement on what to do, just make sure that both parties agree on what they have decided.

I agree with you proposed solution that; the young must be educated properly about terrorism so that they'll have the proper view of it.

But the problem is, sometimes other kids just have their terrorist instinct running in their blood. Their family has been terrorists their whole lives. How are you going to solve that?

I doubt talking would just wipe out more than a hundred years worth of hate, but I agree that it is a start. I wish that they would all follow that solution instead of just bombing the shit out of each other.

there is no easy solution to battle terrorism. your idea about education as a means to battle future terrorism is good.

Peter,

Similar to what I had just discussed, you may continue with the point-by-point format but your solution in your final paragraph should be ONE THAT CUTS ACROSS ALL LEVELS (local, national, international). Think about it.
